KOMPAS.com – examination of cervical cells (cervical) or Pap smears should be understood as a periodic routine checkups on the female reproductive area. For it is necessary to recognize symptoms that require immediate women undergoing Pap smears.
Dr Clare Kurnia, Indonesia Cancer Foundation (YKI) explains, women who are sexually active need to know the signs of when to consult and whether to do a pap smear, including:
* Keputihan which tend to yellow-green, smelly, and itchy.
* Bleeding after intercourse.
* Bleeding between menstrual cycles.
* Menstruation did not come, but you are not pregnant.
* There is pain during intercourse.
“These signs need to watch out for the event in a common frequency, and tend not normal. At least by coming to consult or undergo a pap smear will know then whether there is a serious problem that needs to be addressed immediately,” said Dr. Clare told Kompas Female.
Safe, for women married or sexually active, if the normal reproductive health conditions (not in the signs as mentioned above), then women should be routinely checked once a year.
Pap smear tests can determine whether these signs lead to early-stage cervical cancer or advanced, or just symptoms such as bacteria or fungi that can still be treated with medication. If you’ve recognized the symptoms, a pap smear tests can be done routinely every three months or six months depending diagnosis.
